Criminal Law

Anytime you are facing charges, it is extremely important that you are represented by a lawyer. Even traffic tickets that sound minor could include consequences that affect you in ways that you never imagined. At Growe Eisen Karlen Eilerts, we take every criminal case seriously. Our mission is to make sure that you are treated fairly and can make informed decisions that may affect the rest of your life.

FEDERAL CRIMES
If you or a loved one is charged or suspected of a federal crime, it is in your best interest to seek legal counsel as soon as possible. Federal cases move much faster than those in state court and often have more serious consequences. The cases are typically more complex and can involve voluminous discovery, including wiretap communications. It is imperative that you are represented by someone who is experienced in federal practice and knows the ins and outs of the sentencing guidelines. At Growe Eisen Karlen Eilerts, we have handled many federal cases including weapons offenses, drug conspiracies, bank fraud and identity theft.

STATE CRIMES
Most often, the typical criminal case is brought at the State level. At the state level, crimes are classified as misdemeanors and felonies, with several different ranges of punishment. The possible offenses are wide ranging and encompass almost anything you can think of. It is important that you have a lawyer who can guide you through the system and make sure that you aren’t taken advantage of. We believe in zealously defending our clients and thoroughly investigating each case to ensure that any valid defense is asserted. As with any crime, sometimes the lasting consequences of a plea or conviction can be worse than the actual sentence. We strive to seek justice for our clients and make sure that each client is well informed about their options.

MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE VIOLATIONS
Each municipality has their own set of ordinances (laws) and a violation of those may result in you being charged in municipal court. While this may seem insignificant and easier to just pay the fine and be done, the lasting consequences often come back to haunt people later. As with the other categories of crimes, having a lawyer represent you is in your best interest. We are able to investigate and negotiate with the prosecutor. Without an attorney, you may be limited in the information or options you are given.

DWI
If you or a loved one has been charged with a DWI, whether at the municipal or state level, it is extremely important to seek out a lawyer as soon as possible. With a DWI, you will not only have the criminal case, but there will also be an administrative case involving your driving privileges. The administrative case will have very short deadlines for taking action. Time is of the essence and a delay on the administrative case may mean losing your license for some period of time.
